The Odyssey Astronomy Club (OAC) and Ten-Acre Observatory is holding a viewing session for the peak of the Perseid meteor shower overnight August 12/13 at the Ten-Acre Observatory (TAO), located at 30222 Slaughterville Rd., Tribbey, Oklahoma. So Nick, the TAO’s resident astronomer, will know how many to expect, please contact him at 405-899-4016 or to let him know you are heading to the TAO. The Perseid meteor shower’s peak occurs hours after the August 12 New Moon and the night will be warm, making for optimal viewing conditions under a dark night sky, weather permitting. The projected peak meteor rate is 100 an hour. If you’re interested, contact Nick by phone, email, or by message on Facebook.
