Event

We will have the event on the northwest corner of the Caddo St and Davis Ave intersection. There is a small parking lot that is usually empty that we will be able to set up on. It is probably the best place to host this event at SWOSU while still technically being on campus.

I will try to be there around 8 PM to get everything set up. Dr. Trail said he will look to get a portable projector screen since, at that location, there aren't very many walls to project onto.

I suspect the event won't last much longer than 10:30 PM, but I make no promises!

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
This event was spectacular. Mitche, Andy, and I teamed up to help put on a great show for the potentially 80+ people (mostly 8th and 9th grade STEM girls, some adults) that showed up. Mitche brought his new refractor and gave some spectacular views through it. What a beautiful scope! Andy brought his TV screen and supplied all the power for the event with his car. I set up SWOSU's C14, which I am currently borrowing, for visual. I also set up my refractor with a camera and did some live stacking of various objects for everyone. Dr. Trail brought an 8 inch and a 10 inch Orion Dob, and Dr. Edward's brought his 8 inch Dob and his daughter brought her Dob. 7 scopes in total. We got to look at either visually or through the camera shown on the screen the following objects: Venus The Moon Mars M51- The Whirlpool Galaxy M101- The Pinwheel Galaxy M13- The Great Globular Cluster in Hercules M16- The Eagle Nebula M17- The Omega Nebula It was a great night.
