Join us for an unforgettable evening under the stars as we celebrate Dr. Sally K. Ride's historic trip as the first American woman in space. Ride was a famous astronaut, but she was also a collegiate athlete, scientist, and educator.
Celebrating the 40th anniversary of her historic mission on STS-7, the event is the culmination of sharing the love of space and science with our community. Taking place in the SMO parking lot, SMO will be hosting a star party to view the night sky through telescopes. SMO will be providing many activities to inspire all ages, from stomp rockets to Women in STEM booklets as we aim to be the spark that starts someone down the path of STEM. Our Club will participate by talking about telescopes and using them to do some basic night sky viewing.
Volunteers should arrive by 6:30pm and have their table, booth, or telescope set up for guests by 7:15pm.
