Tonight, the moon will pass in front of Mars.

  • According to Sky Safari, Mars will enter at about 5:56pm and exit from behind the Moon about 6:44 pm.
  • At entry, Mars will only be about 7 degrees up from the eastern horizon, so find a place clear of obstructions low to the east.
  • Mars is near opposition so it will appear larger than usual.
  • The Moon will be full but Mars will be bright.
     

Also tonight, comet C/2024 G3 Atlas is reappearing, you may be able to see the tail nearly straight up low in the west following the setting sun.
