Comments and anecdotes about the event:
From Katie Chippendale: For volunteers, we had myself as the greeter, Rich Doherty and Dan Fountain on the 12-inch, Bob Janus on the Clark, Jim Hendrickson with a Seestar, and John Kocur testing out the newly donated 10-inch Go-To Dobsonian. Francine was also in attendance. I believe one other member stopped by as well, bringing us to a total of 8 members that night. For the public (not including members), I counted 18 adults and 4 children, for a total of 22 attendees. Most were visiting for the first time, with perhaps two groups who had visited previously and brought along friends or family who were new visitors. For most of the night, the nearly full moon was rising, so it created some seeing limitations, but once it broke over the treeline, visitors could view the moon. The weather was great for being outside, so after exploring the sky through the Clark and 12-inch, many people lingered on the lawn to chat with members by the 10-inch Dob. A nice couple also brought their own Seestar and were very enthusiastic about learning more and potentially becoming members.
