The St. Louis Astronomical Society will do a talk on “What to See in the Summer Night Sky” at the Maplewood Public Library starting at 7:30pm, followed by a telescope viewing. The planets Mars and Saturn, double stars Mizar and Alcor will be visible. The rings of Saturn will be the viewing highlight of the evening.

The talk will be from 7:30-8:30pm, followed by a telescope viewing (weather permitting).

Sunset: 20:28; Civil twilight (CT) ends: 21:00; Astronomical twilight ends: 22:26. No moon that evening (rises after midnight); at end of CT (9pm) Jupiter is very,very low in W; Saturn is low but visible in SE; Mars is higher in SSW.

Very cloudy evening. Mars and Saturn were viewed through fairly heavy cloud cover. Talk on summer night skies by Michael Malolepszy was given.
