Event

Maryland Homeschoolers is a group in central Anne Arundel County, they started an Astronomy Club last year for all kids K-12 with a NASA Engineer giving a presentation from 7-8, a craft, and then Star Gazing, weather permitting.  I will be supporting the Star Gazing as an outreach endeavour, as this is down between Odenton and Gambrills, MD in my neck of the woods.  I'll be bringing my 6" f/8 Fork mounted Newtonian and the 17.5" Dob.

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
This was an extremely well attended event--the Maryland Homeschoolers made a very adept use of their FaceBook Account to advertise the event and had more than 15 families each with multiple children K-12 in attendance, most were elementary age. I showed everyone the Orion Nebula in the 17.5" Dob--many oohs and aahs and WOW's of exclamation. After the families left, the NASA engineer and I observed several other objects including M31/32/110, M35, M41, M78, M81 & M82 and the Double Cluster in Perseus. They are very much looking forward to my bringing the big scope out again next month!
