Location Details

Pinnacle Mountain State Park
Pinnacle Mountain is a day-use park dedicated to environmental education, outdoor recreation, and preservation. Located just west of Little Rock, this natural environment of 2,000 acres was set aside in 1977 as Arkansas's first state park adjoining a major metropolitan area. The park features a rich diversity of natural habitat, from high upland peaks to bottomlands along the Big Maumelle River and Little Maumelle River, for park visitors to experience. And, here among this natural diversity park interpreters and volunteers help visitors and students understand man's relationship to the environment.

Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
By the ranger's count we had 32 last night at the star party. 18 attended the two programs, and there were five telescopes set up. Programs were Eclipse Day by Carl Freyaldenhoven and Darcy Howard, and What's Up Tonight by Rocky Togni. Thank you to Bill Sanders, Jim Dixon, Michael Borrelli, Bruce McMath, Carl Freyaldenhoven, Aaron Stevens, Pat and Sandy Morris and Rocky and Carrol Togni. Boy Scouts were well represented among the visitors. Sam Files was the park ranger with us. It would have been more fun if not overcast, but we did see a bright rocket booster and the Chinese space station fly over between the clouds!
