Comments and anecdotes about the event:
From Bob Janus: Jeff Padell operated the Meade 16-inch connected to a CCD camera to display deep sky objects on his lap top computer. I believe M5 was one of things that were viewed. Steve Hubbard, Bob Horton and I were working with the Alvan Clark to look at Jupiter and Saturn. Seeing conditions were among the best so far this season. Steve noted that festoons could be seen in Jupiter's cloud bands. Bob Horton pointed out the Cassini division to people as they gazed at Saturn. I used an iPod to play a selection of classical background music (e.g. "Jupiter" from Holst's' "The Planets"). Public attendance was good throughout the night, I estimate between 30 to 40 people with several young families and first time visitors. Steve Hubbard might have some actual numbers. We stayed busy and open until 11:00 pm.
