Perseverance: Three Years of Exploring Mars with Kim Steadman

Join the NASA Night Sky Network on Thursday, June 27, at 6:00 PM Pacific Time (9:00 PM Eastern) with Kim Steadman where we’ll discuss The Perseverance Rover, and its explorations on Mars.

Kim Steadman received both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech. After graduate school, Kim started her career at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. While at JPL, she has worked on several missions including the Mars Exploration Rover Mission, Cassini-Huygens Mission to Saturn, the Mars Science Laboratory, and the Mars 2020 Rover.

Currently Kim is a Systems Engineer for the Mars 2020 Rover and the Technical Group Supervisor for the Integrated Planning and Sequencing for Surface Missions group. As a systems engineer for Perseverance it is her job to enable science while keeping the rover safe and happy. She is also the role lead for the Campaign Implementation Systems Engineers.

In her job as a Technical Group Supervisor, she manages a group of ~20 engineers who support operations for current surface missions at JPL.

In 2015, Kim received the NASA Exceptional Achievement Medal for her work on the Cassini Solstice Mission.
